Reflection                                                                                    By: Vlada Nekrasov           Public speaking has been a subject I have been avoiding for some time, but I decided I could no longer escape the inevitable. As a requirement for my degree, I knew that I was going to have to overcome my fear head on if I wanted to be more successful in the future. When I saw that this course was available virtually, I thought this was the perfect opportunity for me to begin my journey. I hated feeling like I was the only person who felt anguish when it came to speaking to a crowd and I decided it was finally...

Public Speaking  Public speaking has always been something I struggled with but thankfully this class has been helping me improve my public speaking skills. One of my classmates in my group gave amazing tips to perfect your public speaking skills that I would love to share. Some tips I learned was relating to the topic and letting your audience know you what your talking about because you have first hand experience. So for example using your personal experiences as a way to relate to the topic you're talking about. This will make the audience listen to what you have to say. Another tip I learned is relating the topic to the audience this will make then interested and want to listen to the speaker. Having three main ideas so you can cover everything in the time neccessary. You know your audience is listening if they ask questions. All thes...

Sephora Jean public speaking reflections

Whether we're talking in a team meeting or presenting in front of an audience, we all have to speak in public from time to time. We can do this well or we can do this badly, and the outcome strongly affects the way that people think about us. This is why public speaking causes so much anxiety and concern. The good news is that, with thorough preparation and practice, you can overcome your nervousness and perform exceptionally well. This article and video explain how. For example, you might have to talk about your organization at a conference, make a speech after accepting an award, or teach a class to new recruits. Speaking to an audience also includes online presentations or talks; for instance, when training a virtual team, or when speaking to a group of customers in an online meeting. Good public speaking skills are important in other areas of your life, as well. You might be asked to make a speech at a friend's wedding, give a eulogy for a loved one, or inspire a group of...

Refection: Valerie Delgado

Hello my name is Valerie Delgado. When starting this class I was afraid it would be like every other speech class that I have taken and failed. This class is about leadership and to learn on how to use the proper communication throughout a speech. I have taken a role of being a teachers aid and assisting others with work or other resources to achieve the best possible grade within the course. Throughout this refection there are many things that have been spoken about within the presentations all through I would like to point out a couple of points that were briefly spoken about.  Reducing fear while presenting is one of the main factors that need to be done before walking onto the stage to present. Why you may ask? Well what does fear do to you when speaking, it affects the quality of our delivery. Being afraid or nervous causes us to either speak too quickly or too low focusing on the slides and not the audience to finish quicker. When speaking under these circumstances it c...

SPC2608 September 27, 2022                                              Reflection                     Each presentation was extremely insightful. There were so many so many important topics to remember. Each group gave very helpful tips to becoming a successful speaker and presenter. I felt as if I learned something completely new every time a different person would present. I also learned many things from the different presenters in my group. Everyone gave important information and caught my eye of each topic. My favorite and most insightful topic from each of these presentations was from group 2. They showed a video on how to be a more confident speaker. The video talked about using good body language, prepare before you presentation meaning know you topic and practice, and have a hook in the beginning to help you au...

1,000 word

Blog Post (1000 words) Salim Adjouadi SPC 2608 September 26, 2022 In this a blog post, I present a reflection of my own thoughts and the new things that I have learned about the interesting presentations of my classmates. My classmates of Group 2 analyzed the topics covered in Chapters 5 through 9, and my classmates of Group 3 focused their presentations on topics covered in Chapters 10 through 12.   Group 2 Melany spoke of the process of research and the steps involved in conducting research.   Through this topic, I learned that when preparing a presentation, one needs to learn about the audience you are addressing, the relevance of your topic to this audience, and all the facts that are important to the topic covered. It also involves crediting all the sources and understanding the details needed to make the presentation clear and understandable. Melanie talked about the credibility of the sources used in the research process to make sure that the mate...

Public Speaking Reflection

Public speaking, also called oratory or oration, is the act of speaking to a live audience (such as a large group of people ) , with the intent of relaying information to them , regardless of the medium. Public speaking is considered an art since it requires talent and inspiration to create a lasting impact thus requiring an extensive amount of planning for it to be well done. The type of communication relayed is structured to inform, persuade, and/ or entertain. I will speak about what I assimilated from the presentations given on public speaking. The presentations initially spoke about the fundamentals of speech and what it consists of. They went on to list the main ingredients for a fruitful discussion: the speaker, the message, and the audience . The desirable characteristics of a successful speaker are confidence , passion, brevity and audience awareness. Confidence is crucial to any speaker who wishes to deliver a victorious speech. When you are focused and calm you are ...
