Sara Valladares Reflection #2

Image
Reflection #2 For this assignment we all did an informative speech which taught me so many more new things when it came to public speaking. I was in group three where we talked about gun laws around the world where I explained gun laws in Canada. While I did my research I learned Canada has much stricter rules than the United States. Canadians are allowed to own firearms providing they have a license and restricted or prohibited firearms like handguns must be registered. I also explained how Canadians must be over 18 and pass a firearms safety course to hold a license, which is renewed every five years. Licenses require training in gun safety and an extension background check. Guns have to be kept locked and unloaded, the only firearms allowed for wilde...

Yvette Rodriguez 2nd Presentation

Hi, my name is Yvette Rodriguez, this reflection is based on the 2nd presentation discussed in SPC2608. The second session covered a variety of informative issues with opposing points of view in great depth. As a leader throughout the assignment, I learned a ton of new information and had to develop a thorough introduction for each presentation. Group 3 brought up the first topic, which was gun regulation. In the United States, this is a hotly debated issue, and there are many different points of view on how gun laws should be drafted. The number of school shootings in the USA has increased recently, and people are calling for gun regulation to stop such dreadful incidents. Group 3 discussed the relationship between gun laws and crime rates in various countries. Guns are used by citizens, which is why they are in their possession. Other countries have unique firearms restrictions that I personally would not have considered. Having said that, I do think that people should be able t...

Sophia Meitin Reflection 2

SPC2608                                         REFLECTION Group 3:     My group presented on gun laws around the world. My country was Italy where I spoke about their regulations on owning a firearm. Samantha spoke about the gun laws in the United States of America. It gave me a clear insight into what goes on in our country with gun regulations and statistics. After learning about the stats, it was clear that the United States needs more control over firearms because of the amount of violence that takes place. It was very interesting to hear Vladislava talk about gun control in Switzerland. They have an extremely low crime rate. She researched and discovered that there has not been a mass shooting in over 20 years. Switzerland is number 11 on a peaceful country's list. Although 2 million people legally own a gun, there are very few mass shootings. This is because they have str...

2nd Reflection Blog

By: Vlada Nekrasov The last assignment that we had to do as a group was to give an informative powerpoint presentation on gun laws around the world. This was a different approach from the previous powerpoint presentation based on the chapter discussions from the book. This time we had to direct our focus onto speaking instead of writing information on the slides. We were supposed to practice our timed speeches so that all of us could finish the presentation in an hour cohesively. In order to strengthen our speaking skills we had to include visuals such as graphs, videos and pictures. If you are not good at public speaking, this can make it a bit more challenging because it adds more pressure to the assignment. It was also a learning experience to not be emotional about the subject being ...

Recently in the USA we have experienced a significant amount of school shooting and citizens are asking for gun control to prevent such a horrific situation. Group 3 spoke about different countries gun laws and their crime rates, and how citizens use their firearms and why they have possession of them. There was interesting gun la...

Sephora Jean Reflection 2

Sephora Jean 11/14/2022 SPC2608 Blog Post #2 First off I just want to say each group did an excellent job with all of there presentations. But In group 2 Gabrielle did an awesome job of explaining why immigrants leave their countries. In her presentation I learned that Every day, all over the world, people make one of the most difficult decisions in their lives: to leave their homes in search of a safer, better life. Also that there are many reasons why people around the globe seek to rebuild their lives in a different country. Some people leave home to get a job or an education. Others are forced to flee persecution or human rights violations such as torture. Millions flee from armed conflicts or other crises or violence. Some no longer feel safe and might have been targeted just because of who they are or what they do or believe – for example, for their ethnicity, religion, sexuality or political opinions. These journeys, which all start with the hope for a better future, can al...

2nd blog Salim Adjouadi

Blog Post #2 (1000 words) Salim Adjouadi SPC 2608 November 15, 2022 In this blog post, I present a reflection of my own thoughts and about the new things I learned of what happens to immigrant families who cross the border into the United States, and about gun laws around the world. Group 2: Families at the Border Gabriela Vera expressed so well the many different reasons why immigrants leave their home countries. Of course, we all know about the level of poverty they endure at home, and the economic opportunity they see in America, but it is interesting to learn that some are also fleeing armed conflicts, lack of access to healthcare and education, gender equity, religious freedom, and political corruption leaving no opportunities for jobs for them to make a decent living in their own homeland. Gabriela gives the reasons of freedom of speech, access to a quality education and healthcare, opportunities for jobs as to why immigrants decide to come to the USA. Albert...
