Reflection
Group 1 did an excellent job. Everyone sounded very confident in what they were saying. Effective presenting is all around important. Making sure you audience is reacting well and understanding what you are saying for their age group.
Group 3 discussed on relating, understanding, persuading the audience and most importantly, informative speaking. I believe that relating to the audience is the best way to help engage and make them interested. You gave do this by giving personal examples and opinions as well as creating a connection. By coming up with relatable topics, it helps your presentation. Yadira talks about different skills such as defining, describing, explaining, and demonstrating. All these steps lead to an informative presentation or speech. Another way to inform your audience is to persuade them. Everyone is constantly being persuaded. From social media, billboard signs, to the news, we are constantly being told to do something, buy something, or think something. Sometimes this could be a bad thing but that is why you should always be aware of what is good and what is bad. I learned that there are five principles to follow when persuasive speaking: to be careful who you trust meaning, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”, analyze different messages for reasonableness, having a positive message will make you story more persuasive, be respectful of you audience, and do not give false information to you audience. Vladislava gives us some strategies on persuasion: consistency, small changes, benefits, and need fulfillment. It could sometimes be difficult to understand and relate to the audience when you do not personally know them. That is why it is important to know and practice you topic. Creating a positive message helps engage the audience and it makes them feel welcome. I learned that using different tones helps do this because of how excited you are about the topic. In my part of the presentation, I discussed 5 ethical principles to informative speaking. They are the quality of you information, use caution when you use the words of other people, be careful to not mislead your audience, be sure the audience needs the information, and be sure the information is in the best interest of your audience. Before researching for my part, I did not know any of this information. Not only did I help myself for future speeches and presentations but I helped my classmates learn something new. These 5 principles will help anyone have an effective presentation.
Public speaking is not for everyone especially when most people have stage fright. By listening to the tips and tricks that each group taught me, I feel that I could be a more confident presenter in the future. I might not be a perfect, confident public speaker at the end of the semester, I will definitely improve my slideshows, words, and body language. I enjoyed everyones presentation and I learned so much about public speaking and will be using all the information for my future presentations.

Very nice reflection.
